Adam Levine has denied cheating on his pregnant wife Behati Prinsloo – but admits he ‘crossed a line’ by sending ‘flirty’ messages to another woman.
The Maroon 5 frontman, 43, broke his silence on Tuesday – a day after Instagram model Sumner Stroh, 23, claimed she was having an affair with the married father-of-two.
Stroh – who claims she and Levine saw each other “for about a year” – shared screenshots of private messages the star allegedly sent her. “It’s really unreal how freaking hot you are,” the “Moves Like Jagger” crooner reportedly wrote during a steamy exchange.
“I exercised poor judgment in engaging in ANY type of flirtation with anyone other than my wife,” Levine said in a new statement to TMZ on Tuesday. “I haven’t had an affair, but I crossed a line at an unfortunate time in my life. In certain cases it became inappropriate. I have addressed this and taken proactive steps to resolve this with my family.”
He vowed to get through the difficult times with Prinsloo, 34, who he has been married to since 2014.
“My wife and family are all I care about in this world,” he continued. “Being naïve and stupid enough to risk the only thing that really matters to me was the biggest mistake I could ever make. I’ll never make it again I take full responsibility. We will get through it and we will get through it together.”
Levine and Prinsloo have two daughters together – Dusty, 5, and Gio, 4. The couple is expecting their third child later this year.
According to Stroh, whose TikTok video has racked up more than 15 million views, she and Levine reportedly stopped talking earlier this year.
However, she claims he sent her an Instagram message out of the blue in June, allegedly saying he wanted to name his third child after her, much to her shock.
“Ok, serious question,” Levine reportedly wrote in a message on June 1. “I’m having another baby and if it w [sic] Boy, I really want to call it Sumner. Do you agree? dead serious.”
Stroh – who is from Texas but now lives in Los Angeles – claims she only went public with her story after it was sold by a friend who allegedly shared screenshots of Levine’s playful messages to an unidentified tabloid had gone.
When contacted by Page Six, Stroh claimed the alleged affair, which happened “last year,” was “physical, yes, but I’m not going to say anything more.”
In her TikTok video on Monday, the brunette explained: “You know, I was young then, I was naive. I mean honestly, I feel taken advantage of. I wasn’t in the scene like I am now, so I was definitely very easily manipulated.”
However, the model has been widely criticized on TikTok, with many claiming she is a grown woman who appears to have shown no remorse for allegedly sleeping with a married man.
She later took to Instagram Stories to speak about the backlash she received on her claims.
“Conscious people will try to fill in the gaps with many false assumptions. I don’t feel like I’m doing any favors considering how that had to go,” Stroh said. “It’s a lot to digest, but hopefully it can at least do some good when the truth comes out.”
The brunette also posted a “Part 2” video late Monday night, which she felt was “necessary” as she feels “disgusted” with herself.
“I am disgusted and ashamed of the pain and injury I have caused,” she explained. “I didn’t want to sound teary, so that wasn’t said in this video.”
