Armie Hammer’s estranged wife has spoken out for the first time since horrific allegations of rape and cannibalism were leveled at her husband.
Elizabeth Chambers – who was married to The Social Network star for 10 years – contacted E! News on Wednesday admitting the past two years have been “hell” for her family.
“I consider myself a feminist and I stand in solidarity with everyone who has been victimized of any kind and I hope they find healing,” Chambers, 40, explained. “I’m not here like ‘My life is amazing’ because it’s for been hell for a long time.”
Chambers married 36-year-old Hammer in 2010. The couple welcomed two children, Harper, now 7, and Ford, now 5, before announcing their split in July 2020.
Six months later, Hammer became the subject of shocking allegations of sexual assault and cannibalism after the House of Effie Instagram account began sharing screenshots of disgusting messages allegedly penned by the star.
In March 2021, the woman behind the Instagram account – known only as Effie – came forward and accused Hammer of violently raping her for four hours in a Los Angeles hotel in April 2017.
Since then, several other women have also come forward claiming they were sexually assaulted and abused by the star – including a woman who claimed Hammer tied her up and told her he wanted to “break my rib and grill it and eat it”.
Hammer has denied all allegations of misconduct, with his attorney claiming all sexual encounters were consensual.
In her new E! In an interview with the news, Chambers did not discuss specific allegations made against her ex-spouse, but revealed that they are in constant contact about their two young children.
“Our divorce isn’t final, but we’re in a really great place,” Chambers surprisingly admitted. “We talk all the time. We are fully committed to our children and to being together for our children in a non-romantic way as much as possible. children need their mother; Children need their father. So there is nothing we will not do.”
She also admitted that she “supported” Hammer in his “healing” and even seemed to imply that her ex was reformed, saying, “People change.”
“Armie has been focused on his healing. I am here to support this process. It will make him the best father, the best person he can be,” the brunette explained. “At the end of the day, that’s the goal. We are in constant communication and all that matters is that he is the best father to our children.”
“Time heals, but time alone does not heal. You have to work through it. people are flawed. People make terrible mistakes. persons changeby the way,” she said.
Chambers has spent the last few years in the Cayman Islands near Hammer – who has reportedly been selling timeshares at a resort there.
“I describe myself as very focused and very clear – and healed, honestly. I feel like I’m in a really good place,” the mother of two explained, adding that she’s ready to move back to Los Angeles.
