Chace Crawford reveals why his bump got erased on ‘The Boys’

“The Boys” removed the bulge.

Chace Crawford has revealed his character in Amazon Prime superhero series The Boys was originally meant to be very well endowed.

Crawford plays The Deep, an aquatic superhero with a scandalous personal life, and is a main character in the comic book and television series The Boys.

An official Amazon calendar featuring an unbrushed photo of his huge bump was released when the show first premiered in 2019, but fans noticed something was fishy when Crawford appeared on the show without his Big Boy.

The 36-year-old actor recently confirmed that his character was supposed to have a comically large penis, but Amazon executives weren’t amused to learn he wore a prosthetic penis underneath his skin-tight costume.

Crawford shared that Amazon executives were uncomfortable with the massive prosthetic penis and pushed the production team to remove it from the show.

“[Showrunner Eric] Kripke said: ‘We don’t get any notes from Amazon but the first one we got was that friggin’ can’t happen, we have to take that out,'” the Gossip Girl star told Daily Mail Australia. “And we had to edit it out.”

He explained that the production team was made to use CGI effects to shrink his character’s penis in scenes that had already been shot.

Crawford first spoke about the shocking promotional image when it was released in 2019. He reportedly laughed and moaned during the interview but appeared to be enjoying himself.

The 34-year-old first addressed the shocking photo when it was posted in 2019, laughing that he received “a lot of weird DMs”.

“I got a lot of weird direct messages in my inbox,” Crawford told Entertainment Weekly. “Much love, much love!”

He didn’t want to reveal spoilers, but did claim that the conspicuous prosthesis was somehow part of the storyline.

“There’s a story behind this, but I’m sworn to secrecy by Eric Kripke,” he added. “I wish I could give you a good answer, but we’ll never know. It will forever remain a mystery. We’ll never know!”
