Johnny Depp and Will Smith are ‘a little crazy’

Joe Rogan has a theory as to why actors Johnny Depp and Will Smith are involved in drama: The controversial podcaster believes their careers and spouses pushed them out of the deep end.

The 54-year-old former “Fear Factor” host dropped his opinion on a Thursday episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience,” Newsweek reported.

In the episode, Rogan and guest Tony Hinchcliffe discussed how genius and madness seem to be intertwined in Tinseltown.

“To be one of those people, whether it’s Mel Gibson or one of those actor types, to be insanely good in a movie, you have to be a little crazy,” Rogan observed. He was referring to the controversial Australian superstar being perhaps as famous for alleged anti-Semitic slurs and angry phone messages as he is for his Oscar-winning films.

"To be one of those people, be it Mel Gibson or one of those actor types, to be insanely good in a movie, you have to be a little crazy," stated Rogan.

Hinchcliffe, 37, then cited the infamous Oscars slap as evidence of how Will Smith’s ‘King Richard’ role affected his psyche, prompting the UFC commentator to reply: “He’s an amazing actor, isn’t he ? He shows emotion in his film, it’s so real.”

“The guy’s probably always on the verge of crying, it’s probably a mess,” added Rogan, who also attributed Smith’s mental state to his strained relationship with his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

“I mean how his wife smiled after Chris Rock got a slap in the face,” Hinchcliffe exclaimed, referring to the infamous “Best Smacktor” incident in which the Oscar-winner slammed Rock over Jada’s alopecia cracked a hairline.

“The whole thing was just, oh my god. Like he was enchanted, like he was trapped by witchcraft,” he added. “He’s one of the greatest movie stars of all time and he lives in hell. He lives in hell.”

To illustrate his point, Rogan pulled the now infamous footage of Jada filming the ‘I Am Legend’ star without his consent, which many fans took as clear evidence Smith was the victim of abuse. Meanwhile, Will admitted last September that he and his wife were in an open relationship. This followed swirling rumors that Jada, 50, was dating R&B singer August Alsina, 29.

As further evidence that the drama actors are facing off-screen, Rogan brought up the ongoing defamation lawsuit involving Amber Heard and ex-husband Johnny Depp.

“Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s trial, like whoa are you feeling, are you jealous that some people are movie stars?” the prankster ranted. “Yes? You want to know how they are behind the scenes? When there’s this one witch who convinces the supermillionaire not to sign a prenup so she can get all the money from him.”

“Throws a glass bottle, cuts off his finger, beats him up and then goes to the press and tells everyone Johnny hit them,” he said.

The “Donnie Brasco” star is suing Heard for defamation over a 2018 Washington Post op-ed the “Aquaman” star wrote in which she said she was a victim of sexual assault.

She didn’t specifically name Depp in the article, but it was written after Heard sought a restraining order against her ex-husband in 2016 over allegations of abuse. Depp is seeking $50 million in damages, while Heard has filed a $100 million counterclaim.

Depp supporters recently accused Heard of shedding crocodile tears and even citing movies during her testimony.
