Kim Kardashian got Marilyn Monroe’s hair as a gift

Kim Kardashian has a piece of Marilyn Monroe forever now.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, 41, stunned the crowd at Monday night’s Met Gala when she appeared in Monroe’s iconic 1962 dress.

However, the cosmetics mogul also received a real piece of the Hollywood starlet’s blonde hair as a gift.

The Ripleys believe it or not! The Orlando museum shared a video on its Instagram account on Tuesday showing the reality star getting the infamous mane of a lock-of-screen icon.

“During @KimKardashian’s Met Gala dress rehearsal at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! HQ, our team surprised her with a silver box containing a real lock of Marilyn’s iconic platinum hair,” the museum explained in its post.

The Some Like It Hot actress’ dress, which she wore to sing “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy six decades ago, was in the care of Ripley’s Believe it Or Not! before Kardashian took it for a spin.

“The team at Ripley’s also filled their Met Gala dressing room with a treasure trove of Marilyn Monroe and JFK memorabilia to inspire their look,” they continued.

The clip showed the mother-of-four opening a small blue box filled with tissue paper and looking very shocked to see the strands of hair.

“This is so cool,” Kardashian said. “That sleeps with me every night.”

The museum acquired Monroe’s famous party dress at a Julien’s Auctions event in 2016 for $4.8 million. After taxes and fees, the dress was valued at over $5 million, making it “the most expensive dress in the world” ever sold at auction, Ripley’s told The Post on Tuesday.

While Kardashian made a splash on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art earlier this week, many people weren’t happy that the businesswoman was digging up the decades-old dress for promotional purposes.

“I’m very disappointed to see this 60-year-old iconic dress being worn in public,” said Michelle Morgan, author of The Girl: Marilyn Monroe, the Seven Year Itch, and the Birth of an the post.

“The dress is extremely fragile and was previously stored in temperature controlled conditions, but now here it is, not only worn but in a red carpet environment where anything could have happened to it,” she continued.

Nina Boski, producer of the TV documentaries and podcast Marilyn: Behind the Icon, echoed Morgan’s stance, noting that the viral Kardashian moment was “not a positive memory of the star.”

“I can understand why Kim would want to wear the dress for promotional purposes,” Boski said. “However, the dress should only have been worn by one person, and that is the iconic Marilyn Monroe.”
