Michael K. Williams’ nephew Dominic Dupont discusses dead uncle on Red Table Talk

Michael K. Williams’ nephew, Dominic Dupont, will speak on Wednesday’s Red Table Talk about the discovery of his uncle’s body.

In a preview of the interview, Dupont tells hosts Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith and Jada’s mother Adrienne Banfield Norris that he hadn’t heard from The Wire actor that September day and decided to go to his house to look after him.

“I went upstairs, opened his door, it was quiet. Michael has always made music. That was not the case,” recalls Dupont.

“I stuck my head in and said, ‘Uncle Mike, are you in here?’ And I watched him die. I immediately called 911 and they said, ‘Look, would you like to start some compressions?’ And I said, ‘I’m telling you… he passed away. He is gone. He’s cold,” Dupont said.

In September, the New York coroner confirmed that Williams died of an accidental drug overdose.

Williams’ cause of death was acute intoxication from a deadly mixture of fentanyl, p-fluorofentanyl, heroin and cocaine, a spokeswoman for the chief medical examiner’s office said.

Four men remain behind bars in New York City for allegedly selling the actor fentanyl-laced heroin. They are scheduled to return for a court hearing on June 10, Judge Ronnie Abrams said.

Comedian Kate Quigley, who survived fentanyl poisoning that killed her three friends, including Fuquan Johnson, will also star in the upcoming episode.

The episode will stream Wednesday at 12 p.m. ET on Facebook Watch.
