Neil Patrick Harris: Amy Winehouse’s ‘Corpse Cake’ makes a comeback

Social media watchdogs are biting Neil Patrick Harris over a photo he posted 11 years ago that has recently resurfaced online and has shocked fans yet again.

A picture taken during his 2011 Halloween party showed a dish he served with the caption “The Corpse of Amy Winehouse,” Buzzfeed reported. The photo, which was deleted by Justin Mikita shortly after it was published, showed a bloodied and mutilated Winehouse look-alike.

The “Rehab” singer died just three months before Halloween at the age of 27.

Author Ashley Reed tweeted on Tuesday about the ill-advised dish from the 48-year-old How I Met Your Mother star’s party, which went viral immediately.

“I can’t believe how many online people over 25 are finding out about Neil Patrick Harris’ disgusting Amy Winehouse cake right now…” read the tweet from Reed, who has since made her account private.

“Yes, Neil Patrick Harris literally had a cake mimicking Amy Winehouse’s corpse for Halloween just after she died. I’ve loathed that man ever since,” her second tweet read.

Fans were disgusted with the recreated photo and shared their thoughts with the Twitterverse. The incident was also shared with a Reddit sub for anonymous gossip blogger Deuxmoi, where users discussed Harris’ party foul.

“Yeah I had no idea he did this grotesque thing until recently and I just don’t have freaking respect for that person anymore,” one user wrote Twitter.

Other added, “Society is long overdue for a discussion about how Amy Winehouse was treated by the misogynistic celebrity media machine and the people who were a captive audience in the early 2000s and 2010s. Neil Patrick Harris’ wacky corpse cake is just the tip of the iceberg.”

“What’s wrong with Neil Patrick Harris? This is so disturbing,” one fan commented.

“I can no longer enjoy a ‘Series of Unfortunate Events’ on @netflix and any of his other projects because I just found out that Neil Patrick Harris commissioned a cake from Amy Winehouse’s body for a Halloween party. Subhuman Behavior”, one specified.
