Orangutan attacks mocking zoo visitor who jumps fence in shocking video

A wannabe social media influencer got an important hit lesson on Monday: Don’t mess around with an excited monkey.

Hasanal Arifin jumped over an enclosure fence at Kasang Kulim zoo in Indonesia’s Riau province, Newsflare reported. The 19-year-old allegedly taunted the resident orangutan – and then the angry primate grabbed his arm and dragged him towards the cage, as caught in alarming video with more than 16.5 million views alone on twitter.

“The visitor wanted to make a video [and] Creating content without permission,” said one outraged zoo keeper, as Ides told the outlet. “He crossed the safe distance barrier. This is very dangerous and against the rules. We have already scolded the man. Please take the rules seriously.”

Footage of the incident — which appeared to be first posted on Reddit but went viral after TMZ picked it up — shows Arifin yanking his arm away, only for the primate to grab his shirt and pull him closer. Eventually, the orangutan manages to grab the teenager’s legs and almost flips him over.

“That was idiotic, stupid behavior,” Ides said. “It also put itself and others in great danger. I have reminded staff to ensure that no visitor has the opportunity to do this again.”

According to zoo employees, the prankster managed to secretly jump over the fence when the employees were on their lunch break.

Arifin, who sustained no injuries, was rescued by a passerby who immediately alerted staff and managed to calm the creature until it arrived.

The prankster was immediately thrown out of the zoo and reprimanded by the staff.

Orangutans are not generally aggressive towards humans, but are believed to be five to seven times stronger than humans, India Times reported.

“Google people attacked by monkeys. They are strong enough to tear you apart. And they attack your face and hands first,” one self-proclaimed commenter commented on Reddit. Meanwhile, a sharp-eared Twitter user claimed to have pinpointed the exact moment the distressed teenager’s savior could be heard gas rushing by in the clip, who now declares, “I can’t help but hear it.”

“All things considered, he probably would have been fine. Orangutans are some of the gentler great apes out there. Not one recorded the death of a human being by an orangutan,” chimed in another social media expert.

“This orangutan was clearly excited, but from what I could tell it didn’t seem intent on doing any serious harm, but then again, I’m no expert.”
